Christopher C. Kennedy – Founder & CEO
Sturgeon Capital Management was founded by Christopher “Chris” Kennedy to provide institutional clients, emerging growth companies and high net worth individuals with independent investment advice and quality investment opportunities.
A registered investment advisor representative, Chris has over 25 years of experience in financial services and institutional investing. Prior to founding Sturgeon, Chris spent 16 years as Executive Vice President and Principal of Capital Advisors Group, a national investment firm with over $7 billion is assets under management. During this 16 year period, he was instrumental in the firm’s operational direction and strategic development. This involved actively guiding investment philosophy and the implementation of the firm’s portfolio management, technology infrastructure and trading platforms.
Prior to that experience, Chris managed $130 million in institutional assets invested primarily in the money markets and mutual funds as a Vice President with the Boston Company. In addition, he marketed no load mutual funds, asset management services and an investment servicing program for CDs and other interest bearing instruments.
Chris began his career in financial services holding several senior management positions in lease financing for United States Leasing Corporation, American Finance Group, Inc., and International Funding Corporation.
Chris lives with his family in Weston Massachusetts. He and his wife actively support numerous nonprofit organizations in Boston and Nantucket. He holds a BS from Boston College and Series 63 and 65 licenses.
Debra Potter – Executive Vice President, COO
Debra has over 25 years experience in finance, human resources, and general management.
Prior to joining Sturgeon Capital Management, Debra spent 14 years as Executive Vice President and Director of Operations for Capital Advisors Group, and national investment firm. She also had responsibility for all human resource management functions, and served for 6 years as compliance manager. As a member of the firm’s executive board, she assumed a leading role in strategic planning and product development.
As Director of Operations, she developed relationships with institutional custody providers such as Wachovia, State Street Bank, and First Union. These relationships led to a comprehensive knowledge of institutional custody products, services, computer platforms, and reporting. In addition to directing all accounting and operations functions for Capital Advisors Group, she had direct responsibility for 70 client relationships with assets of over $3 billion. She also directed the reconciliation of over 300 client fixed-income portfolio accounts totaling nearly $7 billion in assets on a daily basis. The specialized and custom reporting packages she developed became a primary deliverable of the organization and were forefront in the company’s marketing presentations.
Her career also includes eight years in the non-profit sector as Executive Director of a multi-program social services agency, and several years in real estate brokerage and development in her own firm. She has also served as a director for various Executive Boards at private, government and corporate entities. A native of the Chicago area, she holds a bachelors degree from Rockford College.
Joshua McInerney
As part of our Advisory Team, Josh brings his expertise to our Investment Committee and Trading Desk.
As Senior Equity Trader at Tudor Investments, Josh gained extensive industry experience trading Domestic
U.S. Equity as well as European Equity for a $13 billion portfolio. He also
specialized in the equity derivative swaps and options market. Prior to
joining Tudor, Josh worked at Hellman, Jordan Management Company as
vice president and senior trader, supervising a trading desk of a $1.7 billion
portfolio consisting of U.S. Equities, U.S. Treasuries, Foreign Exchange
Futures, Energy Futures, Agricultural Commodity Futures, Precious Metals
Futures as well as Equity and index options. He also held trading positions
at ABN Amro Bank resulting in extensive experience in foreign exchange,
foreign bond futures, US Treasuries and other domestic fixed income
products. Josh is a Certified Pool Operator and Certified Advisor with the
NFA, a Registered Series 3 Representative and graduate of Manhattan
College, and makes his home in Weston, MA.
Meredith Tyros – Associate
Meredith works closely with Sturgeon's CEO and founder, Chris Kennedy.
Her duties are diverse and her commitment to Sturgeon's business model
is limitless.
Meredith is in her junior year at Northeastern University.
Meredith was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars in
the spring of 2010 and the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society.
Meredith co-founded the College-Pro Organization in Boston's inner
cities, which provides support to students in need of counsel in the college
application process. Meredith is a graduate of the Saint Anselm College of
Civic Leadership Academy and a member of the NH Young Republicans ,
the Northeastern University Republicans Club, and has volunteered in
many political campaigns. Meredith is a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority,
where she serves as Social Chair and Bid Committee Representative.
Silas Howland– Associate
Silas joined Sturgeon Capital Management in the spring of 2010.
Prior
to that he was a commercialization analyst with the Norwegian Centres
of Expertise: Micro- and Nanotechnology. Silas helps start-ups with the
refinement of their strategy, business model, and business plans. He has
an AB in Evolutionary Biology from Harvard University and a Graduate
Diploma in Entrepreneurial Management from Boston University School of
Management.
